Microblading

Microblading is semi-permanent make up which is very finely bladed into your skin/dermal layers to mimic and create natural looking hair strokes to enhance your eyebrows. Treatment is perfect for people who suffer from hair loss/Alopecia, overplucked 90s brows that struggle to grow any hair back, or to make your own natural eyebrows look fuller and to fill in any sparse areas which won’t wash off with water.

Top up is to maintain the best possible look, brows will fade over time. Some skin types require top ups more frequently, i.e. 6 monthly. Any top ups after 2 years will be charged at full price.

Yes, A free no obligation consultation is given to all clients who are thinking about having Microblading, Tattoo lightening and Eyelash extensions. 

All treatments must have a patch test carried out in the studio at least 24/48hrs prior to appointment. If these patch tests are not carried out, appointments will be cancelled. Our insurance companies will not cover us without these. 

RieDefine has a strict cancellation policy, if you need to cancel your appointment, please contact us ASAP with a minimum of 48hrs notice. We understand things happen out of our control so please contact us to discuss. A late/no show charge will be applied to your account which will need to be paid before booking another appointment. A late charge is usually ½ treatment total, a no-show charge is full price. If you have paid a deposit, this will be taken and would have to be paid again to rebook. 

All new clients are required to pay a booking fee to secure their appointment.

The most frequently asked question in the industry! It is advised for you to apply numbing cream 1 hour before your treatment which you need to purchase yourself. Numbing agent is then used during your appointment. 9/10 people don’t feel anything, this is all depending on individual pain thresholds. Usually only a scratch is felt, if anything!

Microblading usually lasts anywhere between 1-2 years. This is variable depending on skin type and aftercare/maintenance. Metabolism, Age, Sweating, Product usage, Sun Exposure, smoking are some of the reasons why Microblading may not last you as long as what you hoped. A colour boost is required between 1-2 years to keep the brows looking at their best, keeping the colour and shape even. It is best to book these ahead to avoid disappointment, working around special occasions. Etc.

Are there any contra-indications?

Always with any treatment! 

If you suffer from any of the following conditions, you are not suitable to Microblading:

  • Under 18 years of age
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • High Blood Pressure or heart conditions/pacemaker
  • Taking blood thinners such as Aspirin or similar medication
  • Taking steroids such as cortisone, Accutane, Retin-A or something similar
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Glaucoma 
  • Pregnant
  • Nursing
  • Certain Prescribed Medication
  • Epileptic
  • Diabetic
  • Auto Immune Disease
  • HIV / Hepatitis C
  • Recently Taken Antibiotics
  • Previous Nickel Allergy
  • Previous Keloid Scarring
  • Herpes Simplex
  • Undergone Recent Surgery
  • Chemotherapy in the last 6 months
  • Botox in the last 2 weeks
  • Oily Skin / Acne prone skin
  • Sunbeds/sunburn
  • Allergies to makeup/nickel

You must be well for your appointment. 

Do not take Ibuprofen or Aspirin 24/48hrs before your appointment.

Do not drink alcohol or caffeine on the day of your appointment.

Have a shower before you come in, trust me on this. You are not able to get them wet for a while so you will want to enjoy your shower beforehand.

If you love exercise, do it before. You aren’t allowed to get them wet for a while so exercise/sweating is a no go for 2 weeks! Sweat contains salt, salt is a natural ink remover!

Make sure you follow instructions before and after Microblading. There is a reason for everything. Not only does it affect healing but also can affect how the colour retains in the skin. A further top up may be needed which is chargeable. 

No tweezing/waxing your brows before attending, we need to see your natural brow shape!

Don’t get them wet for 2 weeks following treatment, it will affect the colour retention. Don’t pick or touch any scabs/flakes. It could lead to scarring!

No tanning for 2 weeks prior.

No microdermabrasion or dermaplaning for 2 weeks prior.

Book Microblading at least a few months before special occasions/holidays, this allows time for healing and top ups etc.

Yes, lash extensions grow out with your natural lashes, your natural lashes shed daily. New extensions will need to be applied 2-3 weeks following your full set. Best to book these ahead to avoid disappointment.
